Everything You Need to Know About Hemp Protein Powders

Image
Nutrition is arguably the most important part of any training regimen and/or healthy lifestyle. Protein is one of the most important nutrients regarding muscle growth, so it is a heavy point of focus with most people working on their overall fitness. The amount of protein obtained from eating meals is normally not enough, so protein powders are used to compensate for this. Regardless if the intention is bodybuilding, powerlifting, CrossFit, or some other focus, there is no denying that protein supplementation plays a big role in most gym environments. One of the most underrated types of protein supplement is hemp protein. This is made from the hearts (shelled seeds) of   the hemp plant. The seeds are ground into a nutritious powder that is then used to make smoothies and shakes. The goal, as is the case with most protein powders, is to maintain the necessary protein levels to a nutrition plan. By enhancing the natural protein intake, it is possible to gain weight, reduce fat...

Will CBD Result in a Positive Drug Test?

Image
The 2018 Farm Bill made it legal for farmers to grow hemp plants with less than .3% THC. CBD went from barely legal to being showcased on grocery store shelves and infused into your favorite snack foods. While people are using CBD for everything from arthritis to anxiety to adding a splash of flavor to their favorite summer drinks, there are still questions about drug testing. Can CBD cause you to fail a drug test? The answer is complicated. CBD is made from the hemp plant, not from marijuana. Drug tests typically only screen for THC – the compound in cannabis that gets you “high” – or one of the compounds created when your body metabolizes it, but there are stories of people being fired for using CBD products. Let’s talk about how that could be possible. How Can CBD Impact a Drug Test? CBD can influence drug test results in a couple of ways. First, it could be the product is mislabeled by intent or by accident. Drug tests look for THC, not CBD. Not all companies are practicing h...

Three Common Misconceptions About Infrared Thermometers

Image
Author: Martin Earl INFRARED THERMOMETERS Besides the fact that they’re shaped like a gun and have a built-in laser, infrared thermometers are just plain cool. They’re very fast (instantaneous), provide a good indication of temperature and allow you to collect data at a distance. The problem is, you’ve got to look past the novelty – and learn how to use them properly – before they’ll give you excellent temperature returns. The first important stipulation is that all ThermoWorks thermometer products except for one are intended for food service, food processing, industrial, scientific and general home use. Our only FDA-cleared thermometer is the  WAND™ No Touch Digital Forehead Thermometer. It is an infrared forehead thermometer that uses an algorithm to translate forehead temperatures to oral-temperature equivalents. For more information on using infrared thermometers for health screenings, read this other article with important considerations. HERE ARE THREE OF THE MOST COMMON...

Benefits and Best Practices of a Non-Contact Infrared Temperature Scanner

Image
Since the beginning of the pandemic outbreak, we have seen various protective equipment trends in the market. From N-95 and surgical masks to face shields, sanitizers, and non-contact thermometers, the businesses left no stone unturned to come up with new ammunition to combat the pandemic. Some of these products failed to meet the basic expectations, while some went the extra mile to get approved by established organizations like the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Further, stocks were limited in the initial days, which led to panic-buying and shortage of supply. And the tendency is prevailing even today, as we slowly move towards getting a vaccine.  According to the latest reports, the US hospitals and healthcare systems are already experiencing a panic-buying of cold storage facilities to keep the vaccines at their proper temperature range. It is going to be real messy for some time. However, self-protection is still pretty much in our hands. We should follow all protocols an...

UVC wands kill viruses. Experts warn they're also a 'major safety issue'

Image
The invisible light can kill viruses and pathogens like the one that causes COVID-19, but experts are raising alarms about the potential safety risks. The  coronavirus pandemic  has businesses and homeowners alike seeking out anything that might make shared spaces feel safer and more sanitary. That has some consumers and product manufacturers  turning to ultraviolet, or UV light  as a potential solution -- specifically, a type of UV light called  UVC , which has extra-short wavelengths and enough energy to alter the DNA and RNA of organic cells, which stops them from reproducing. UVC light has a long history as a proven disinfectant at places like hospitals and laboratories, and businesses including airlines, hotels and retail spaces have been relying on the invisible light  more than ever in 2020 . The pandemic has also produced a flood of cheap, unregulated, consumer-facing devices for use in the home, including handheld wands that let you wave exp...
